Systematic responsibility: GEZE publishes sustainability report
GEZE combines technology and responsibility: products with good durability, consistent cycles in production and logistics, intelligent energy management and responsible procurement in Europe. The sustainability report for the 2023/24 financial year will explain the results in relation to the topics of circularity, the environment and the climate.

With its sustainability report for the 2023/24 financial year, GEZE once again demonstrates that sustainability is not a necessary evil for the company, but rather a central part of its value creation. The specialist in door, window and safety technology combines governance, data and industrial practice. Sustainability is a key component of GEZE's corporate strategy. Our actions are guided by the three areas of People, Planet and Product and are focused on achieving continuous improvements and exploiting opportunities for sustainability," says Sandra Alber, Chief Officer Legal & Finance at GEZE. Through these actions, GEZE aims to become greenhouse gas neutral by 2045. The path to achieving this goal is shaped by three key areas: the circular economy, environment and climate, and regional responsibility within a global network.

GEZE develops durable, maintenance-friendly products – from door closers to swing door drives – and ensures they keep running for many years. This reduces material and energy requirements over their service life. When they are no longer serviceable, oil-filled door closers are collected and recycled properly. A closed oil circuit runs in parallel in the production facility, which recycles lubricating and hydraulic oils from the systems and recovers up to 1,000 litres annually.
The company also operates a Germany-wide reusable packaging system of over 160,000 reusable containers, and is consistently working to replace single-use containers. In the second half of 2024 , just under 750 tonnes of packaging were returned to the cycle. Global waste generation fell by five per cent in the reporting year. In production, a separation ratio of around 96 per cent is stabilising recycling rates.
Environment and climate: operational efficiency

GEZE systematically manages energy consumption and relies on 100 per cent green electricity in Germany , supplementing this with certified green gas. The headquarters is supplied with heat via an efficient cogeneration plant. An energy monitoring system in Leonberg identifies potential savings during ongoing operations. In the reporting year, the energy intensity was 12.77 MWh per employee, which is significantly lower than the previous year's figure. GEZE also utilises process heat from the exhaust air of compressors and improves its balance sheet through many small changes: for example, by collecting 1,441 kg of paper towels separately, GEZE saved around 228 kilograms of CO₂ in the first half of 2025.
Sustainability figures at a glance (reporting year 23/24):
- 100% green electricity and green gas in Germany
- 96% separation quality in recycling
- 12.77 MWh energy intensity per employee
- 1,000 litres of oil recovered per year from the production cycle
- 160,000 reusable packaging units in circulation
- 750 tonnes of packaging recycled in H2/2024
- 80 per cent of the purchasing volume is checked based on relevant risks.
