GEZE receives new EPDs for door solutions
Sustainability across the entire product range is a key concern for GEZE. With new environmental product declaration certifications for all GEZE revolving doors and automatic linear sliding doors, the company has now taken another important step in this direction. The internationally recognised documents, which were awarded by the Institute for Environment and Building (IBU), were presented to GEZE on 1 September. They certify the environmental performance of the doors throughout their entire life cycle.

For Peter Rürup, Team Lead Product Management Standards at GEZE, environmental product declarations are much more than just a certificate: "They make the environmental impacts and life cycle assessments of our products transparent and tangible. We are, therefore, delighted that we can offer our customers planning security and at the same time contribute to more climate-friendly construction”. The new environmental product declarations provide planners, builders and contractors with a reliable basis for sustainability decisions – from tendering to building operation.
Requirements for Green Building certificates

For architects, builders and planners, the energy efficiency of buildings is playing an increasingly important role. An EPD (environmental product declaration) lists detailed life cycle assessment data on raw material use, energy consumption, emissions and other environmental impacts of a product and provides a reliable basis for sustainability decisions – from tendering to building operation. With declarations from its top sellers, GEZE is now helping to meet an essential prerequisite for obtaining Green Building certificates such as the German Sustainable Building Council, BNB, BREEAM and LEED, thereby helping fulfil public procurement requirements. Both EPDs have been prepared in accordance with the latest version of EN 15804 with Amendment A2.
EPDs are created at the IBU via a digital platform that connects product manufacturers, the IBU with its expert council, and independent auditors. The results are also available to the public. This ensures objectivity and transparency. After the data has been collected and a life cycle assessment has been carried out, an independent external verification process checks the data for plausibility before the EPD is issued.
EPDs for automatic linear sliding doors and revolving doors are prepared in accordance with the latest version of EN 15804 with Amendment A2. These, as well as the environmental product declarations for many other GEZE products, can be viewed online.
