Standards in modern car production
Architects office: Zaha Hadid, Leipzig
The car production facility, which opened in Leipzig in 2005, is setting the standards for modern production. The core of the facility is the main building designed by architect Zaha Hadid and has a facade with a special visual feature. From a distance, it appears like a normal metal facade but up close, it reveals the corporate design of the car manufacturer. New production methods have been used to fabricate dynamically arched aluminium profile panels which make up the white and blue facade. The main building was singled out for the German Architect Prize 2005 awarded by the National Chamber of Architecture.
GEZE products can be found both in the main building and in other buildings on the production site. The elegant MSW system for manual sliding panels has been adopted for the room dividers. The TS 5000 door closers and the TSA 160 automatic swing door drive make it easier for the staff to walk through the passageways. The BMW distribution centre has been fitted with two Slimdrive SL FR sliding door drives.
